Unable to access the internet while you move upstairs or away from the router? To solve such issues range extenders play an important role to boost your router. Wifi extenders help increase the signals and stream HD videos and movies and play games online without getting disconnected from the internet.

Netgear Nighthawk X6S EX8000:
The Nighthawk X6S is well almost 23cm tall, trying to make it the size of a full-fledged router – but that size is justified by the features it contains. In comparison to most Wi-Fi extenders, which use a single 5GHz radio to interact with both your router and network devices, the X6S has a tri-band layout, which means gigabit communications don’t have to compete for network spectrum with client traffic.
This has a significant impact on overall speed. Our tests revealed that the X6S is by far the fastest extender we’ve ever encountered, capable of projecting the available capacity of a 100Mbits/sec fiber internet access to the farthest reaches of our property. That kind of performance has previously only been seen in high-end mesh Wi-Fi setups, so this is a significant improvement.
In terms of features, the X6S is a standout performer. There are four Gigabit ports on the back of the device, as well as a USB port, so you’ll need to you can use to start sharing files and folders across your home network. You can also audit and block linked clients from the user-friendly web interface, as well as set up an access schedule and customize IP address settings, among other things.
However, the only drawback is its cost: the Nighthawk X6S is not only the fastest extender we’ve tested, but it’s also one of the most costly we’ve seen that doesn’t use Powerline as well. However, if you are looking for easy transfers and a large number of features, this is a no-brainer.
Specs that are important – WPS button is available; radio tunes (maximum speed): 2.4GHz (400Mbits/sec), 2 x 5GHz (1,733Mbits/sec); Gigabit ports: 4 x Gigabit (WPS button is available)
TP-Link RE-450 extender:
The TP-Link RE450 booster is now on our main website over several years because it does everything that you can possibly want from a Wi-Fi extender at a very reasonable price.
Because of its three sticky-out aerials, the RE450 did an excellent job of relaying the wifi device throughout our home – we monitored upload speeds of 16MB/sec at close distance and 9MB/sec even at the far end of the house, which was very impressive.
While the design appears to be somewhat flimsy, it is actually quite slim, sticking out only 37mm from the wall, which means you shouldn’t trip it over as you walk past it. It is unlikely that you will be able to insert anything into the adjacent power socket because of the wide casing, but it is quite attractive because of the gently bright blue ring that surrounds the WPS button. It also turns red when there is a problem with the device that is connected. Also on the left-hand side, there’s a Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting to the internet.
The RE450 isn’t the least expensive Wi-Fi 5 extender on the market, but it’s quicker and more fashionable than the alternatives in its price range. Never let its age dissuade you from considering it for your shortlist: it is still worth considering.
Specs that are important – WPS button is available; radio bands (maximum speed) are 2.4GHz (450Mbits/sec) and 5GHz (1,300Mbits/sec); Ethernet ports are 1 x Gigabit; WPS button is available
