Eknath Shinde: A Few Facts About Maharastra’s Current CM

Eknath Shinde has become a prominent name in the Indian political scene, in recent times. Indian netizens and media have made him a hot topic of discussion. However, for those who do not know, let me inform you that he is the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In addition to this, he is also the present President of Shivsena. A Short Bio

Shinde breathed his first on the 9th of February 1964. He was born to his parents in Dare, Maharashtra, India. However, soon after his birth, his family relocated to Thane, in search of livelihood. We know nothing about the names and occupations of his parents. Also, any information about his siblings also remains unknown to us.

As far as his educational background is concerned, let me inform you that he studied at Mangala High School& Junior College. However, he did not go for higher education and ended his studies in Class 11. This decision was forced by the poor economic condition of his family. He even worked as an auto-rickshaw driver to support his family. However, in 2014, after he became a minister, he resumed his studies and in 2020, he obtained a BA degree from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University.

Political Career

In the year 1980, Shinde entered the political sphere, having Anand Dighe as his mentor. Dighe was the Shivsena President of Thane. After his death, Shinde continued the legacy of Dighe. After that came the year 2004, in which he was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the first time. Since then, he got elected for three more consecutive terms. In addition, he has also served the positions of a corporator on Thane Municipal Corporation, the House Leader of Thane Municipal Corporation, and some other posts.

In the year 2005, he was appointed as the Shiv Sena Thane district head. He also served as the leader of the opposition in Maharastra from October 2014 to December of the same year. Then he went on to scale higher on the political ladder, becoming the Cabinet Minister of Public Works in 2014. In 2018, he became the party leader of Shivsena, and the very next year, he became a Cabinet Minister. In the very same year, he also became the Acting Minister of Home Affairs for a few months. Finally, in 2022, he took oath as Maharastra’s CM.

Personal Life

If you wish to know about the relationship status of Shinde, then let me inform you that he is a married person. His wife’s name is Lata Shinde. Shinde is also the proud father of two sons and a daughter. However, in 2000 his son Dipesh and his daughter Shubhada passed away due to an unfortunate boat overturn accident. However, his only surviving son Shrikant is an Orthopaedic surgeon and also an elected Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from the Kalyan constituency.
