Emirati Law Firms in United Arab Emirates bill their clients on a fancy letterhead containing the total sum to be paid where there is no kind of pressure is generated. But when it comes to provide the “Fee Plans” or recovering or getting paid the fee, then it becomes an issue sometimes. Clients always need the best services but they do not want to pay on time or at least as per the market rate. Lawyers in UAE are the best law support providers and drivers and the one who can easily be trusted.
With the passage of time time, clients have become more demanding where they need complete details of every case details and 24/7 support like an IT agency. There are two answers to this situation. The first one is that it is not possible to offer a 24/7 support. Courts are closed at Evenings and lawyers do have the life too, post office hours.
Second answer is the fee. When you will be asking for a special or extra support then Law Firm will also ask you to pay more. The Law Firms in Dubai are already working on this pattern. The Law Firms in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah by Emirati Lawyers are also following the same pattern. But if the Law Companies do demand that they must be paid more when the clients need the extra support, then clients consider this is the insult if they are asked.
Fee Formats:
There are multiple factors in billing which include fixed or flat fees, contingency fees and non-refundable charges. In case of hourly charges, there are a lot of variations which determine the final amount charged to the client. Law Firms in UAE, usually do not work on hourly basis. They work on flat fee basis. Contingency is also practiced.
Although law firms usually do not negotiate charges with their clients, it is possible for organizations to work on a billing plan that is acceptable for both parties. Corporations usually prefer a flat fee approach in case the legal needs involve major tasks with repetitive steps whose timelines cannot be estimated beforehand. On the other hand, corporations prefer hourly billing if the legal needs are such that the costs and duration of the tasks can be easily estimated. But as we said above, that Hourly Fee plan is not the part of UAE legal services, usually.
Apart from the fee charged by law firms, there are various other fees charged by courts for initiating claims. The UAE Law and local emirate Laws regulate the charges levied by the Dubai Courts. There are three levels of courts in Dubai:
- The First Court – The Court of First Instance
- The Second Court – Court of Appeal
- The Third Court – Supreme Court and the Court of Cassation
- The Dubai Court Fee charged by the Civil Court of First Instance (CFI) is 6% of the claim amount or 40, 000 AED maximum.
- Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, it is 5%, maximum of 30, 000 AED.
- Abu Dhabi is 3%.
- Fujairah is 5% of Claim Amount
- Dubai Labour Court Fee is 5% of the claim amount and 30, 000 AED is the maximum fee. Fee starts when the claim amount is 100, 000 AED or beyond.
Furthermore, the best part is to check the Fee with Dubai Court or other Emirate Court. That provided the latest fee plan.
